Redwood stump, Santa Cruz Mountains

Dedicated volunteers donate their time and skills both in the forest and in the office to help preserve the coast redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Join the team!

The trails of the redwood forests are inspiring places. Sempervirens Fund docents like to hike and talk, and they have the ability to do both at the same time! Our trained docents are special people who tell us more than our eyes can see — they are our forest guides.

Invasive Species Removal
Invasive plants are not native to the local environment and can wreck havoc on forests and plant communities. With the help of our volunteers and in partnership with the Wildlands Restoration Team, we work to remove invasive species and restore the forests to their natural state.

Trail Clearing & Building
We work with the Santa Cruz Mountains Trails Association to maintain, build, and promote responsible use of the trails in our redwood parks.

Administrative Interns
We can often use volunteers in the Sempervirens Fund offices to help our staff with filing, data entry, internet research, and GIS mapping.

To find out more about these and other volunteer opportunities, please contact our offices at or (650) 949-1453.
