About Us

Sempervirens Fund is California’s oldest land trust and the only organization exclusively devoted to permanently protecting the coast redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Since our founding in 1900, we have:

  • Protected 25,000 acres of redwood forests.
  • Planted more than 23,000 trees.
  • Built and maintained more than 60 miles of hiking trails.

We are proud of our achievements, but our work is not done. Already 95% of the old-growth redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains have been cut down and the remaining forests are still unprotected and could be subdivided or developed, imperiling redwood parks, watersheds, and wildlife habitat. Join us as we work to permanently protect the magnificent coast redwoods today and for future generations.
